Interesting post, tips and comments about the mindset of an entrepreneur (Is Entrepreneurship a State of Mind or State of Employment) on the Escape from Cubicle Nation . I see it as a state of mind. I've been out of the corporate world full time since 01, with one stretch of nine months working as a senior speech writer for Sun Microsystems. Once I made the mental switch to being independent, it became natural to think of myself as a free electron.
I once interviewed Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert) for an article, and he explained that he always thought like an entrepreneur, every day of his corporate life. He'd wake up at 5 am, draw his cartoons for two hours before trudging off to work..He was frequently doodling and drawing cartoons to entertain his colleagues at work. He did this for years before getting discovered. And his was a brilliant scheme: while most people complain and moan about the weird behavior in America's corporations, he just turned it into fodder for Dilbert.
